Arvus Reflection Guide

1. The Core Insight: Evolving Beyond Old Playbooks

It is a strange paradox: the exact strategies, habits, and mindsets that brought you success in an earlier chapter of your life can become the very things that hold you back in your next season.

When entering a new transition—whether shifting careers, stepping into leadership, or redefining your personal direction—clinging to an old identity creates friction.

Here is your framework to transition into your next chapter:

  1. Audit Your Old Playbook: Ask yourself: Are the habits that got me here suitable for where I want to go next?
  2. Separate Identity from Achievement: Your worth is not defined by past titles, old roles, or previous accomplishments. You are allowed to outgrow old goals.
  3. Embrace Beginner’s Mindset: Stepping into new growth requires accepting initial awkwardness. Give yourself permission to learn without the weight of having to appear expert right away.
  4. Realign Your Core Values: Ensure your current daily choices reflect what matters to you today, rather than what mattered to you five or ten years ago.

A Quick Story from the Field:

I used to pride myself on being the person everyone in my family or group of friends turned to when something went wrong. If a problem popped up, I jumped straight in to fix it, give advice, or take control. It felt good to be reliable.

But as my children grew older and started navigating their own adult lives, my habit of stepping in began creating tension. They didn’t want me to fix things for them; they just wanted me to listen. Realising that the very habit which had made me a good helper in the past was now getting in the way of healthy boundaries was a tough pill to swallow. I had to learn to step back and let go of the “fixer” identity.

Growth doesn’t happen from reading alone—it happens in the application. Grab a notebook and take 3 minutes to reflect:

💭 “Which old habit, title, or way of working am I holding onto simply because it worked in the past? What shift is my current chapter asking of me?”
